Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use raw chicken in this recipe?

Yes, you can use raw chicken, but you'll need to cook it first. Boil or roast the chicken until fully cooked, then chunk it before mixing with the other ingredients. This will ensure that the chicken is tender and flavorful in the potpie.

What can I substitute for the cream of chicken soup?

If you want a healthier option or to avoid preservatives, you can make your own cream of chicken soup by combining milk, chicken broth, and a roux of butter and flour, seasoned with herbs. Alternatively, use cream of mushroom soup as a substitute for a different flavor profile.

Can I freeze the chicken potpie?

Yes, you can freeze the potpie before baking. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil. When ready to bake, remove the wrapping and bake from frozen, adding 10-15 minutes to the cooking time. This makes for a convenient meal option later on.
