Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Separate the eggs into yolks and whites.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and add water, oil, vanilla, almond flavoring, and sugar; mix well.
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg whites with 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the yolk mixture until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased tube pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 50 minutes, then increase temperature to 350°F (177°C) and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool before removing from the pan.
