Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (4 oz.) cans green chiles, cut in halves crosswise and seeded
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion together in a skillet.
  2. Layer the seeded green chiles, shredded Cheddar cheese, and cooked meat in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, eggs, milk, and hot pepper sauce to make the batter.
  4. Pour the batter evenly over the layered ingredients in the casserole dish.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and set.
  6. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before cutting and serving.
