Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 4 cups water, divided
  • 1 can (15 to 16 oz.) Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 oz.) navy beans, rinsed and drained
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 2 to 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, cook the chopped onion and green pepper in 1/2 cup water until tender.
  2. Add the rinsed and drained Great Northern beans, navy beans, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes to the saucepan.
  3. Stir in chili powder, salt, pepper, and the remaining water; bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
