Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 pound chopped dates
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together.
  2. Add the beaten eggs and mix well.
  3. Sift the flour with the cream of tartar and baking soda, then add to the mixture.
  4. Mix thoroughly. Stir in the chopped dates and nuts.
  5. Spread the batter in an 8-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes.
