Chinese Crispy Wontons

Crispy, savory wontons filled with seasoned pork and water chestnuts, perfect as an appetizer or party snack with dipping sauces like sweet & sour or spicy mustard.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. ground pork
  • 8 canned water chestnuts finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. grated fresh ginger
  • 16 oz. package of wonton skins
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Combine pork, water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, and ginger in a medium bowl.
  2. Mix well to combine the filling ingredients.
  3. Place 1/2 teaspoon of pork mixture in the center of each wonton skin.
  4. Fold the wonton skin over the filling to form a triangle.
  5. Turn the top of the triangle down to meet the fold.
  6. Moisten one corner of the triangle with water.
  7. Overlap the opposite corner over the moistened corner and press together firmly.
  8. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large saucepan to 375°F.
  9. Deep fry 3-4 wontons at a time for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Drain the fried wontons on paper towels.
  11. Serve hot with spicy mustard or sweet & sour sauce.
