Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider using sesame oil instead of cooking oil. If you don't have dry sherry, a splash of white wine or rice vinegar can be a suitable substitute. To enhance the dish, toss in some sliced scallions or chopped cilantro before serving. You can also use leftover roasted vegetables for a quicker prep, making this a versatile dish among your Chinese recipes.

Serving Suggestions

This Chinese Noodle Skillet is delightful on its own, but you can pair it with Tong'S Egg Rolls for a complete meal. Serve with a side of sweet and sour sauce for dipping. Consider adding a sprinkle of sesame seeds or crushed red pepper for an extra kick. It also complements a fresh salad well, balancing the meal.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply add a splash of water to the skillet and warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. You can also microwave in short bursts, stirring in between, to maintain texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh vegetables instead of frozen?

Yes, you can absolutely use fresh vegetables! Just make sure to chop them into bite-sized pieces and sauté them until tender before adding to the noodles. This can enhance the dish's freshness and flavor.

Is there a vegetarian option for this dish?

Certainly! To make this dish vegetarian, simply omit the ham and substitute it with tofu or tempeh for protein. You can also add extra vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for added texture and flavor.

Can I make this ahead of time?

While this dish is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the noodles and sauce in advance. Store them separately, and combine them with the vegetables and ham just before serving to maintain the best texture and flavor.
