Choc-O-Cherry Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
  • 3 (3 oz.) sq. melted unsweetened chocolate
  • 12 cherries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Sift together in mixing bowl the flour, sugar, soda and salt. Add the butter and milk; beat for 1 1/2 minutes.
  2. Add 3 unbeaten eggs, the cherry juice, the melted chocolate and the sliced cherries.
  3. Beat for 1 1/2 minutes.
  4. Pour into 3 (9-inch) round layer pans, well-greased and lightly floured.
  5. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Cool and frost.
