Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift sugar and flour together in a large bowl.
  2. Put oleo, cocoa, and water in a saucepan.
  3. Bring to a rapid boil and pour over the sifted sugar and flour, stirring well.
  4. Add buttermilk, beaten eggs, soda, and vanilla to the mixture.
  5. Mix thoroughly and pour into a greased and floured 16 x 11-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Frost while warm.
