Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. cold coffee
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. boiling water

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Stir in the cold coffee.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Finally, stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.
