- Pour cold water in a bowl and add the unflavored gelatine; soak.
- Mix cocoa and boiling water until smooth.
- Add the cocoa mixture to the gelatine and stir well.
- Stir in the slightly beaten egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and vanilla; cool the mixture.
- Beat the egg whites until they start to get stiff, then gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
- When the egg yolk mixture starts to thicken, fold it into the beaten egg whites.
- Pour the mixture into a baked pie shell and chill until set.
- Just before serving, spread with a light coating of whipped cream.
