Ingredients

  • 10 ice cream cones (flat bottoms)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter with water and cocoa powder, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and combine with the flour mixture.
  5. Mix well until smooth.
  6. Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes.
  7. Fill ice cream cones to about an inch from the top with batter.
  8. Place cones into a muffin tin or baking pan to keep upright.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool before frosting.
