Decadent chocolate cookie bars with a crunchy cracker base, melted chocolate topping, and crunchy nuts, perfect for sharing at parties or enjoying as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve unsalted saltine crackers
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 12 oz. bag chocolate chips
  • chopped walnuts
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Line a jelly roll pan with tinfoil.
  3. Lay saltine crackers flat to fill the entire pan.
  4. Melt butter and sugar together on the stove and bring to a boil.
  5. Spoon the butter/sugar mixture over the crackers without pouring.
  6. Place the pan in the oven for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and turn off the oven.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the crackers and return to the warm oven for a couple of minutes until melted.
  9. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the crackers.
  10. Sprinkle chopped walnuts and powdered sugar over the chocolate.
  11. Cut the bars lengthwise into four rows, then cut each row at an angle to create pieces.
  12. Refrigerate until the bars are hard, then remove from the pan.
  13. Tear off the foil and break the bars into pieces.
  14. Optionally, sprinkle more powdered sugar on top before serving.
