Chocolate-Nut Chess Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. cornmeal
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
  • sifted powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium bowl; mix well. Combine eggs, milk and vanilla.
  2. Stir into sugar mixture, mixing well.
  3. Pour into pie shell.
  4. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes, or until set.
  5. Cool.
  6. Sift powdered sugar over pie, if desired.
