Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups milk (for pie)
  • 3 cups milk (for pudding)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted with chocolate

Instructions

  1. Heat sugar, flour, salt, and 2 1/2 cups of milk in a saucepan until thickened.
  2. Add beaten egg yolks to the mixture and mix well.
  3. Stir in melted unsweetened chocolate and butter until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into a pie crust or serving dishes and top with meringue if desired.
