A hearty Christmas breakfast casserole combining sausage, cheese, eggs, and bread, baked to perfection. Perfect for festive mornings with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground sausage
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 6 to 7 slices bread
  • 12 eggs
  • 3 1/4 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground sausage and drain the fat.
  2. Add chopped green onions to the sausage and cook for one minute.
  3. Place slices of bread in the bottom of a dripper pan or similar baking dish.
  4. Layer the cooked sausage and onions on top of the bread.
  5. Sprinkle grated cheese over the sausage layer.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add prepared mustard, salt, pepper, and milk.
  7. Pour the egg mixture over the cheese layer.
  8. Cover and refrigerate overnight to set.
  9. Before baking, add milk to the cream of mushroom soup and pour the mixture over the casserole.
  10. Bake uncovered at 325°F (163°C) for 1 hour until set and golden.
