Ingredients

  • 1 c. soft butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. uncooked quick oats
  • candied cherries, halved

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, salt, vanilla, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  2. At low speed, add sifted flour and oats until just combined.
  3. Form the dough into large or small canes.
  4. Place the canes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Place halved candied cherries on top of the canes.
  6. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
