Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Crumble the flour, salt, shortening, and butter together with a pie fork until well combined.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and stir into the flour mixture along with the sour cream.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla to the mixture.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and chill for at least 2 hours before using.
