Chuck Wagon Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • beef chuck roast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove most of the fried meat from the pan.
  2. Pour off drippings.
  3. Pour the can of tomato sauce into the pan, stirring well to loosen browned bits.
  4. Add 1/4 cup water and 2 to 4 tablespoons of meat drippings, as desired. Heat and stir often.
  5. Serve the sauce with cooked meat.
