Ingredients

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • dash of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a cookie sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the light brown sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place the cutouts onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before decorating or serving.
