Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup dates or raisins

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Stir in honey.
  3. Add butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour.
  4. Beat with a mixer on low speed until blended.
  5. Beat for 1 minute on high speed.
  6. Stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
  7. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down by stirring with a heavy spoon.
  9. Add cinnamon and dates or raisins.
  10. Place in a loaf pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes until loaf sounds hollow when lightly tapped.
  11. Cool on a wire rack.
