Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder ⓘ
- 1/4 cup shortening ⓘ
- 1 large egg ⓘ
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/2 cup raisins or chopped nuts ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons oleo (melted margarine or butter) ⓘ
- 3/4 cup sugar ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/2 cup milk ⓘ
Instructions
- Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly.
- In a separate bowl, combine egg, milk, and vanilla.
- Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until just blended. Set the batter aside.
- In another bowl, combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and raisins or nuts.
- Stir in melted oleo (margarine or butter) into the brown sugar mixture.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-raisin mixture over the batter.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
