Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. Gold Medal flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. flaked coconut
  • Orange-Lemon Icing (recipe follows)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream shortening and confectioners sugar.
  3. Blend in flour.
  4. Press mixture in bottom of ungreased baking pan (13 x 9 x 2-inches).
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
  6. Mix remaining ingredients; spread over hot, baked layer.
  7. Bake 20 minutes longer.
  8. While warm, spread with Orange-Lemon Icing.
  9. Cool.
  10. Cut into bars about 3 x 1-inch.
