Ingredients

  • 2 cups meal
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Pour the batter into two small greased loaf pans.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 450°F and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes in the pans.
  6. Slice and serve.
