Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and sugar together; set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter, Crisco, cocoa, and water.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil.
  4. Add the flour and sugar mixture to the saucepan.
  5. Add the remaining ingredients: eggs and vanilla.
  6. Mix well and pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  7. Bake in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes.
