  • 1 c. noodles

  5. Add the noodles to the crock-pot.

Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider using fresh herbs instead of dried; fresh basil and thyme can elevate the taste. If you prefer a heartier soup, substitute the noodles with rice or quinoa. You can also add other vegetables like corn or green beans for extra nutrition. If you want a quicker option, pre-cooked rotisserie chicken can be used instead of a whole fryer.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Country Chicken Soup hot, garnished with fresh parsley for a pop of color. It pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a simple side salad for a complete meal. For a cozy dinner, consider serving it alongside Nell'S Cherry Salad Mold for a refreshing contrast. This soup also makes a great lunch option, either warm or chilled.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To freeze, portion the soup into freezer-safe containers, leaving space for expansion, and it can last for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stove over medium heat or in the microwave until warmed through, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chicken breasts instead of a whole fryer?

Yes, using boneless chicken breasts is a great alternative. Just adjust the cooking time, as they may cook faster than a whole chicken. You can add them in the last 4 hours on low or 2 hours on high to keep them juicy and tender.

How can I make this soup gluten-free?

To make the soup gluten-free, simply replace the regular noodles with gluten-free pasta or omit the noodles altogether. You can also add more vegetables or use rice to maintain a hearty texture while keeping it gluten-free.
