Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup real butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 6 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 oz paraffin
  • finely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with foil, making sides with foil if necessary.
  2. Arrange 40 saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Stir in brown sugar into the melted butter and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  5. Drizzle the sugar-butter mixture evenly over the crackers.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12 to 14 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips and paraffin over hot water until smooth.
  8. Remove the baked crackers from the oven and spread the melted chocolate mixture evenly over them.
  9. Immediately sprinkle finely chopped pecans over the chocolate layer.
  10. Allow the toffee to cool completely, then break into pieces and serve.
