Ingredients

  • 1 pt. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. flour
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. lard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, lard, and flour together to form the crumb mixture.
  2. Set aside 1 cup of crumbs for topping.
  3. Add the remaining dry ingredients (buttermilk, eggs, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder) to the mixture and combine.
  4. Beat in eggs and buttermilk until smooth.
