Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 2 c. molasses or King syrup
  • 2 c. hot water
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and brown sugar together.
  2. Cut in oleo (butter). Set aside.
  3. Mix molasses and hot water to which baking soda and vinegar have been added.
  4. Pour half of the liquid into an unbaked pie shell.
  5. Add crumbs on top of the liquid in the pie shell.
  6. Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes.
  7. Reduce temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
