  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and brown sugar together in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Set aside 1/2 cup of this mixture for topping.
  4. Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
