Date Straws

Sweet and chewy date straws with crunchy walnuts, coated in powdered sugar, perfect for a delightful snack or dessert for gatherings and tea time.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dates, chopped small
  • 1/2 cup English walnuts, broken small
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients together: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Beat eggs lightly and combine with the dry mixture and chopped dates and walnuts.
  3. Spread the mixture 1/2-inch thick in a large greased pan.
  4. Bake in a moderate oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Leave to cool completely.
  6. Cut into strips and roll each strip in powdered sugar.
