Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups Southern cane syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan pieces
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 (9-inch) deep dish pie crust

Instructions

  1. Boil sugar and syrup together for 2 or 3 minutes.
  2. Beat eggs until not too stiff.
  3. Pour slowly into hot syrup; add butter, vanilla, and pecan pieces.
  4. Pour mixture into raw pie crust and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes or until set.
