  3. Remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider using heavy cream instead of evaporated milk. You can also substitute walnuts for pecans if preferred. Make sure to continuously stir the mixture while it thickens to avoid burning. If you want a richer chocolate flavor, add an extra tablespoon of cocoa. For an alternative sweetener, try using honey instead of corn syrup.

Serving Suggestions

These fudge patties are perfect as a sweet treat on their own or served alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They pair beautifully with a cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk. For a festive touch, serve them on a dessert platter with other sweets like (Dreamy) Pecan Pie and Faye'S Egg Custard Pie for a delightful dessert spread.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you want to keep them longer, refrigerate for up to two weeks. To enjoy them again, let them come to room temperature before serving. Avoid microwaving, as it may alter the texture; instead, leave them out to soften gradually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of nut in this recipe?

Yes, you can easily substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if you prefer. Just chop them finely to ensure they mix in well with the fudge. Each nut will add its unique flavor, so feel free to experiment with your favorites.

What should I do if my mixture doesn't thicken?

If the mixture doesn't thicken after 30 minutes, it may not have been boiled long enough. You can return it to the heat and bring it back to a gentle boil for a couple of minutes while stirring constantly. This should help achieve the desired thickness.

Can I add other flavors to the fudge?

Absolutely! Consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract for a different flavor profile or a pinch of sea salt to enhance the sweetness. You can also mix in other ingredients like dried fruit or mini chocolate chips for added texture and taste.
