Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 6 tablespoons margarine softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  4. Add to the creamed mixture, alternating with sour cream, blending after each addition.
  5. Spread half of the batter in a 10-inch tube pan lined with waxed paper.
  6. Cream margarine, brown sugar, and cinnamon together.
  7. Add chopped nuts and mix well.
  8. Dot the batter in the pan evenly with half of the nut mixture.
  9. Cover with the remaining batter.
  10. Dot with the remaining nut mixture.
  11. Bake at 350°F for about 40 minutes.
  12. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing.
