Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced fresh peaches
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • cinnamon to taste
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix sliced peaches with 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Put butter in a 9-inch square pan and place in the oven to melt.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk.
  5. Blend with a spoon until smooth and pour over the melted butter (do not stir).
  6. Top with the prepared peaches (do not stir).
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with sweet cream or ice cream.
