Ingredients

  • navy beans
  • onion
  • tart apples
  • apple juice
  • maple syrup
  • Sweet 'N Low
  • hot sauce
  • barley miso
  • hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Rinse, sort, and soak navy beans in water to cover overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked beans.
  3. Combine the drained beans with chopped onions, tart apples, apple juice, diet maple syrup, and Sweet 'N Low in a baking dish.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil on the stovetop; then remove from heat.
  5. Cover and bake at 300°F (150°C) for 4 to 6 hours or until apples and onions have cooked down.
  6. Stir in hot sauce and barley miso.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
