Diane's Bread Stuffing combines tender bread cubes with savory onions and celery, seasoned with salt and pepper, perfect for stuffing turkey or baking as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped celery with leaves
  • 1 cup butter
  • 9 cups soft bread cubes
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook and stir onion and celery in butter in a 10-inch skillet until the onion is tender.
  2. Stir in about one-third of the bread cubes.
  3. Transfer to a deep bowl and add the remaining bread cubes, salt, and pepper; toss to combine.
  4. Stuff the mixture into the turkey just before roasting.
  5. Alternatively, bake in an oven roasting bag placed in a cake pan.
