Ingredients

  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons dill seed
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix yeast and warm water in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat cottage cheese without boiling.
  3. Add cottage cheese to the yeast and water mixture.
  4. Add remaining ingredients: sugar, butter, soda, egg, minced onion, dill seed, salt, and sifted flour.
  5. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  6. Place dough on a floured board.
  7. Knead and shape into a loaf.
  8. Snip the top of the loaf.
  9. Grease the top of the loaf.
  10. Let rise in a pan until doubled in size.
  11. Bake at 350° to 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
  12. Excellent toasted.
