Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground meat
  • 1 can whole kernel corn, partly drained
  • 1 small onion, sliced thin
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 or 3 peeled, sliced fresh tomatoes
  • 3 to 4 slices white bread, torn into pieces
  • 4 to 6 slices bacon, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces

Instructions

  1. Break ground meat into chunks and brown in a skillet.
  2. Drain excess fat from the meat.
  3. In a greased casserole, layer the browned meat, sliced onion, chopped green pepper, partly drained corn, and sliced tomatoes.
  4. Season each layer with salt, pepper, and garlic powder as you go.
  5. Once all ingredients are layered, cover the top of the casserole with torn bread pieces.
  6. Lay bacon pieces on top of the bread layer.
  7. Cover the casserole and refrigerate or freeze if desired.
  8. Bake in a 375°F oven until heated through and bacon is browned.
