Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter and flour a large baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl with an electric mixer, beat together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs and beat until well combined.
  6. Stir in the flour mixture to form a stiff dough.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips.
  8. Divide the dough in half and shape each into a log on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until set and slightly cracked.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  11. Slice the logs diagonally into 1/2-inch slices.
  12. Arrange the slices on the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until crisp.
  13. Cool completely on wire racks before serving.
