Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/4 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 medium cabbage
  • 2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. In a 10-inch skillet, cook bacon until crisp.
  2. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels.
  3. Discard all but 1 tablespoon of drippings from the skillet.
  4. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden.
  5. Sprinkle in flour and sugar; stir until smooth.
  6. Stir in water, cider vinegar, pepper, and salt.
  7. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  8. Return bacon to skillet and keep warm.
  9. Place cabbage wedges in the skillet, cover, and cook until tender.
