Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. oleo
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 1 pkg. yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and oleo as for pie crust.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm milk; add to beaten eggs.
  3. Mix dry and liquid ingredients thoroughly and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Bring to room temperature and turn out onto a floured board.
  5. Knead well and let rest.
  6. Divide dough into 4 parts.
  7. Roll one part thin as for pie crust; brush with melted butter.
  8. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, nuts, and/or raisins.
  9. Spread with a filling such as poppy seed or dates if desired.
  10. Roll tightly.
  11. Bake as is or cut into 3/4 inch slices and bake in muffin tins.
  12. Bake at 375°F for about 20 minutes.
  13. Sugar/lemon icing may be used.
  14. Repeat with the other 3 parts of dough.
