Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 8 medium-size cooking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Roll half of pastry to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; fit into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  4. Add orange juice, light corn syrup, and melted butter; mix well.
  5. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
  6. Arrange the apple slices in the prepared pastry-lined pie plate.
  7. Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the apples.
  8. Cover with the remaining pastry, seal edges, and cut slits to vent.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
