Ingredients

  • 2 cups cracked wheat or bulgur
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Stir all ingredients except flour into boiling water.
  2. Add flour gradually until the mixture is moist and workable.
  3. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. Cover the pan with a second loaf pan upside down.
  6. Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 1 hour.
