Easter Lamb Cake

- Sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- Cream vegetable shortening with sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in almond and vanilla extracts.
- Add sifted ingredients alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Turn batter into the front half of a well-greased and lightly floured lamb cake mold.
- Tightly cover with the second half of the mold.
- Place the mold on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let stand, unopened, for 10 minutes.
- Remove cake from mold and cool completely.
- Frost with buttercream frosting.
- Sprinkle with flaked coconut.
- Use gumdrops or chocolate bits for eyes and nose.
