Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 6 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Cream the shortening and 1/2 cup sugar thoroughly.
  2. Add beaten egg and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing after each addition.
  4. Fill greased muffin tins half full with batter.
  5. Bake in a 375°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
  6. Remove muffins from pan immediately after baking.
  7. Dip tops in melted butter, then in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
