Ingredients

  • 2 packs of hamburger or hot dog buns
  • 2 sticks of butter, softened
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 quart of whole milk
  • 12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 16 oz can of fruit cocktail, drained

Instructions

  1. Crumble the bread in a 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
  2. Spread the drained fruit evenly over the crumbled bread.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix softened butter, eggs, and sugar with a hand mixer until creamy.
  5. In a medium saucepan, combine whole milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla.
  6. Cook until warm but not boiling.
  7. Pour the warmed milk mixture into the butter, eggs, and sugar mixture. Beat until all lumps are dissolved.
  8. Pour the mixture over the bread and fruit in the pan.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1.5 hours until the pudding is firm in the middle.
