Ingredients

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1/2 cup Crisco oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Put oleo, cocoa, oil, and water in a pan and bring to a boil.
  2. Sift plain flour into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add sugar into the mixing bowl.
  4. Pour the cocoa mixture into the flour and sugar mixture.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Add eggs, soda, vanilla, and buttermilk in a separate bowl.
  7. Combine the egg mixture with the first mixture.
  8. Pour the batter into a long pan.
  9. Bake in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes.
  10. After the cake has been baking for 15 minutes, start preparing the icing.
