Easy Pasta Sauce
A quick and flavorful homemade pasta sauce with fresh vegetables, tomato, and herbs, perfect for a comforting weeknight meal or family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped ⓘ
- 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped ⓘ
- 1 large garlic clove, crushed ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons salad oil ⓘ
- 2 cups tomato sauce (from 2 8oz cans) ⓘ
- 2/3 cup tomato paste ⓘ
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves, crushed ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon basil, crushed ⓘ
- 1 bay leaf ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon sugar ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper ⓘ
Instructions
- Saute onion, green pepper, and garlic in a medium saucepan.
- Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, oregano, basil, bay leaf, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Heat to boiling, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
- Remove the bay leaf and serve over hot cooked pasta.
