Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 (1 pound) cans green beans

Instructions

  1. Cut bacon into very small pieces and brown in a skillet.
  2. Add chopped onion to the bacon and cook until browned.
  3. Allow the bacon and onion mixture to cool.
  4. Mix vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and shredded cabbage in a bowl.
  5. Add the cooled bacon and onion mixture to the cabbage mixture.
  6. Drain the green beans and add them to the cabbage and bacon mixture.
  7. Simmer the mixture for several hours.
  8. Drain off excess liquid before serving.
